[Movies] Goonies Sequel Looks To Be Off
Posted by Ashish on 10.18.2008
No return of the Truffle Shuffle...
Director Richard Donner says that the Goonies sequel is dead.
"We tried really hard, and Steven (Spielberg) said, 'Let's do it.' We had a lot of young writers submit work, but it just didn't seem to call for it," he says.
All hope is not lost for Goonies fans though. Donner says he may turn the film into a Broadway musical.

I'd say "thank GOD," but this just means they're gonna find another classic to rape.

What the fuck am I going to do now? Great, now I'll have to do Lost Boys 3 and another season of my "reality" show with that junkie fuck-up, Corey Haim.
Tommy Jarvis was my best work :(

THANK YOU for killing that idea.
Hollywood, please listen:
NOT EVERYTHING NEEDS A SEQUEL!
Thanks!

I hate you both for not wanting a Goonies sequel! Its not like it was so good that a sequel would do any harm, like the Lost Boys.

i am both sad and glad at the same time. Although seeing a goonies sequel would be cool. It would be probably straight to video, like lost boys. The second lost boys was ok, not as good as the first, and the goonies would probably be the same. At this rate we may see License to Drive II.

Well, I was never that big a fan of the Goonies, even when I used to watch it as a kid in the 80s... but I'm certainly glad we're missing out on another sequel 20 years later.

if speilberg hadn't hitched his wagon to peter jackson for tin tin, he may have gotten the funding for this.
jackson is a huge risk after the flop that is king kong.
